Willa Holland Biography:
Model/actress Willa Holland was born on June 18, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. Willa was a
top child model in the USA working for Ford Models and she attended Paul Revere Middle
School and Palisades Charter High School. Willa is most famous for her role as Kaitlin Cooper
on the Fox hit series "The OC." She's also appeared in the movies "Ordinary Madness," "The
Comeback" and "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things," and has done some modeling for
"Cosmo Girl!" and "Teen Vogue." Willa enjoys the music of The Who, and lists Cartman from
"South Park" as her favorite television character.
After appearing in several first season
episodes and then vanishing into thin air (or fictional off-screen boarding school),
Kaitlin Cooper was in danger of becoming "The O.C." equivalent of missing "Happy
Days" sibling Chuck Cunningham. This Thursday (Jan. 19) night, Kaitlin Cooper's
back and viewers are going to notice some obvious differences.
"We always knew we were bringing her back and we always knew the girl -- Shailene
Woodley -- who played her originally was a wonderful little actress, but was still a bit
young for the kind of nefarious doings that Kaitlin was going to bring to the show,"
says Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of "The O.C."

Starting with Thursday's "The Sister Act," Kaitlin -- sister to frequently tearful waif
Marissa (Mischa Barton) and daughter to regularly scheming vamp Julie (Melinda
Clarke) -- will be played by 14-year-old Willa Holland. The step-daughter of director
Brian DePalma, Holland is a sometime model whose acting credits are mostly limited
to a guest spot on HBO's "The Comeback." She admits, though, that she's no stranger
to the world of her new show.

"I'm a guilty, guilty 'OC' fan from Day One," Holland laughs.
Holland continues, "Honestly, on my first day, I didn't know if I should have been
nervous or anything like that. I was just completely still in shock that I got it. I'm one of
those people, I don't believe it 'til I see it, so when I actually arrived on set, it was like,
'Huh. So I did get it. Well, this is a new world.' Then everybody welcomed me with open
arms and everybody was so sweet and they just became such a happy family for me."

Even though FOX has been relentlessly teasing Kaitlin's naughty return to Newport,
getting specifics on how the prodigal daughter will stir things up is futile.

"The writers were telling me before I got any of the material, 'Just watch out.' I'm like
'Watch out?' They're like, 'Yeah, she's a little troublemaker,'" is all Holland will reveal.
"I'm not going to go give too much away, but she does get her revenge toward being
left out of her family."

Apparently a lot has happened to Kaitlin since her earlier incarnation as a spoiled wee
wallflower.

"She stirs up a lot," Holland promises. "It's so much fun. Honestly, I'm getting to play
the thing I never get to do in real life -- I get to be the bitch."

Certainly Schwartz is pleased with his show's latest youth infusion.

"Someone should do a DNA test, because she could very well be Mischa's sister," he
says of his newly paired sisters. "It's uncanny. She has that same combination of on
one hand she feels like a teenage girl and on the other hand, she has sophistication
and this alluring quality about her that's beyond her years. I just think she's a dynamite
new presence."

Of course, joining one of her favorite shows has forced Holland to abandon any
schoolgirl crushes she may have had on her castmates. Ever the diplomat, though,
she refuses to admit to a preference between Adam Brody's Seth Cohen and Benjamin
McKenzie's Ryan Atwood.

"I'm mutual," she swears. "Everybody loves the little quirky, little comic geek boy,
that's cute and everything. But then again, who doesn't like the mysterious bad boy
with the bad past? The crushes are gone -- the little crushes -- just because now I
know them and I think about them more as friends and they've become and part of my
set family and I don't want anything to be awkward.

That set family bond may get a chance to grow. Although Kaitlin is only slated for a
handful of episodes up front, Schwartz doesn't expect the character -- or Holland -- to
vanish for long.

"I just think she plants a flag for next season for a whole new generation of 'O.C.' or as
we call it, the 'Muppet Baby'-version of the show and she's just a really exciting
presence that points us toward the future," he says.

Holland is eager to be part of that future.

"I'm so up for it," she gushes. "I really am. I love working with these people. I feel at
home at that now. Whatever comes in the future, it comes, but if that offer ever got
thrown out, I would take it in a second, in a heartbeat, without even thinking twice."
