John Welbourn (born March 30, 1976 in Torrance, California) is an American football
offensive tackle and guard who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Philadelphia
Eagles in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played college football at California.

Welbourn has also been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots.

John Welbourn is 6-foot-6, weigh 300 pounds and only have 8% body fat? These are the
stats of New England Patriots’ John Welbourn, and it seems he’s influencing some of his
NFL buddies with his Caveman Diet. Yup you have read about that here many times,

“When I was in New England a bunch of the guys saw the way I ate and asked a lot of
questions. So I ended up writing out some diet stuff for them,” Welbourn said. “They were
pretty interested.” Welbourn has been on the Caveman Diet, also known as the Paleo Diet,
which is based on foods such as lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits and vegetables.
The reason scientists say the diet actually works is because for 99.6% of our evolutionary
history, humans basically eaten the same things and our genome has adapted perfectly to
these foods.“We’ve uncovered the diet that humanity evolved with [during the Paleolithic
era],” says Loren Cordain, a professor at Colorado State University and the author of two
books on the diet. “And that’s why it does work because it’s consistent with our genes.” The
diet encourages individuals to reconnect with their most basic caveman needs, eat with
their hands, become more aware of what they’re consuming and eat foods in their natural
form, i.e. move away from modern day “culinary conveniences and chemically concocted
confections”. The Caveman Diet consists of meats, eggs, fruit in moderation, root
vegetables, nuts, berries, fish and loads of water. The diet, however, bars potatoes, sugar,
grains, salt, dairy products and beans.
