I have to admit I was shocked when I realized this was HCLW’s first Jamie Foxx
post! Sorry for the long wait. Anyhow, Jamie is an actor who literally transforms his
body for his different acting roles. We think it is quite impressive, and did I already
say he looks really good? Check out the details below courtesy of Men’s Fitness.
Any Given Sunday
Role: Willie Beamen
Year: 1999
What he did to prepare: “I really had to bulk up. I got up to about 200 pounds, then
lost 25 pounds once I went down to training camp because of all the workouts, and
water lost. It made me look bigger on the screen because I was tighter.”
Ali
Role: Drew “Bundini” Brown
Year: 2001
What he did to prepare: “I was about 220, just fat. I ate anything I wanted and I was
fat.”
Redemption
Role: “Tookie” Williams
Year: 2004
What he did to prepare: “I had to get up to 225 pounds of all muscle and gut. When I
was playing Tookie [the founder of the Crips street gang], I had to be on my mark. It
gave me an idea we could do anything.
chair seat.
Ray
Role: Ray Charles
Year: 2004
What he did to prepare: “This was my toughest transformation. I had to get down to
about 158. It was a mind-blowing experience. You go through a dark area for about
four to five days, but once your metabolism changes, you can eat a plate of
beignets and you won’t gain a pound.”
The Soloist
Role: Nathaniel Ayers
Year: 2009
What he did to prepare: “I got down to about 173, but it was muscle. The homeless
people in Los Angeles are different, they have to stay in shape and a lot of them do
via parks, monkey bars. They have to stay strong to protect themselves.”
Jamie Foxx Quotes
The following is a quote from a 2006 Interview w/ Men’s Fitness.
MF: With all this success – how do stay healthy?
Jamie: ”With me I’ll be 39 December the 13th and what I do is I get 25 pounds
weights, and I do this thing called sixes. I do six of everything. Do your push-ups
and your crunches, or whatever and then I play basketball — what you try to do is
just kind of sweat everyday and then think young! The minute you start talking
about, “Man I’m about to be that time!” The next thing you know age comes. When I
see my friends they like, “Damn, what happened to you?”, but then they are around
people, they’re acting older. I stay around young folks, I stay around my daughter
and her friends, you know, it keeps you young.”
