The 43-year-old star said that her 24 hours a day chronic back pain left her with depression and no appetite whatsoever. She explained that she lost her appetite not just for food, but for life in general.
“I was in agony 24 hours a day,” she confessed. “I had lost my hunger not just for food, but for life. Food is a happy thing for me and I was desperately unhappy, so there was no quick fix solution of hearty meals.”
Last year, after an interview at GMTV, Ulrika was criticized on her way too skinny figure. She said that, at her lowest, she weighted around 126 pounds. After she lost 21 pounds due to her condition, rumors started appearing that she had actually lost weigh on purpose.
“It was incredibly frustrating because the suggestion that I would risk my health for the perfect body goes against everything I’ve ever believed in,” she said. “I’ve never been obsessed about the way my body looks – all I’ve ever wanted is to be healthy.”
These days she’s determined to get her strength back. She’s focusing on building up the muscles she’s lost so she started eating healthier and going swimming.
Katy Perry is on a strict diet and workout routine while she’s prepping for her ‘California Dreams’ tour. The 26-year-old singer wants to be in the best shape for the worldwide tour that starts next month. In the new issue or ‘Rolling Stone’, the pop star reveals that she’s on a strict diet but she’s not loving it.
“After this interview I’m going to have a nice healthy breakfast. I’m on a meal plan, which absolutely sucks,” she admitted.
To make things easier and resist temptation during the week, she has a cheat day, usually on Sunday, when she eats burgers. But don’t think that after that she just sits around, watching TV. Once she’s done splurging, her day is pretty busy. She works out with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, goes to vocal lessons and dance rehearsals until 10p.m.
“I feel like I’m training for the Olympics,” she says.
With a candy-themed show ahead of her, Katy is already struggling to resist the sweet temptations.
“Big ass gummy bear? NOT on the meal plan… But I sure did show him! STFU gummy bear!,” she tweeted.
The California Dreams tour will start in February and Lisbon is the first city to host her show.
Johnny Depp has embarked on a green tea diet to lose weight for his upcoming movie role in ‘Dark Shadows’. The actor is playing a vampire and so he is required to have a leaner physique.
The 47-year-old Hollywood superstar is planning to lose about 10 pounds for the lead role by drinking gallons of green tea. Along with green tea, his diet also includes other fruits, such as strawberries and pineapples. By April, when the shooting for the movie begins, he’ll be showing off a skinnier figure.
‘Dark Shadow’, directed by Tim Burton and written by Seth Grahame-Smith, is a story about vampires, monsters and ghosts, and it’s based on the gothic soap opera of the same name that was nominated for an Emmy back in 1968. The movie is to be released in 2012.
Cheryl revealed that her confidence was shattered back in July 2008 when a tabloid showed some photos of her with a fuller figure. She became obsessed with her weight after she read some comments of bloggers calling her “fat”.
“One night I was supposed to go out with my friends but I couldn’t do it. Every time someone looked at me I was like, ‘That person thinks I’m fat,’ ” she confessed.
That prompted her to hit back pointing out that anorexic does not equal beauty. Even so, this incident made her lose all confidence in herself so, in order to lose weight, she tried starving herself and taking diet pills but with no result.
So then she went for a healthier approach. The constant exercise while on the ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ show, along with a healthy diet helped her to lose weight. Her diet included lots of vegetables but she also allowed herself to splurge once in a while.
“I love carbs and I love chips,” she said. “I’m not going to deprive myself – but instead of eating potato chips I’ll eat Triscuits or low-fat Cheez-Its.”
These days, Cheryl is in control of her diet and makes sure to work out regularly to keep her body in shape. She says that she feels more confident about herself that she ever did a few years ago.
James Duigan has been Elle Macpherson‘s personal trainer for the last 15 years and he’s recently revealed the secrets behind her enviable figure. He believes that the first step to weight loss is commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
Here are Duigan’s tips to lose weight and stick to your diet:
Make the commitment! Find the determination to make changes to your eating habits and, most importantly, to stick to your diet.
Eat clean and lean – no processed foods.
“You need to eat lean and clean. Once you get that right, everything else falls into place.”
Cut out wheat and sugar. Eating processed low-fat food and drinking diet coke does not mean you’re on a diet.
“It’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s sugar.”
Duigan doesn’t believe in diets that make you count calories, measure portions or ban certain foods. He thinks these types of diets are a waste of time and a solution to lose weight for a short period of time.
Find the exercise that works best for you. Not everybody can do certain exercises so it’s better to experiment and find those exercises that fit you.
His last tip is to stretch before bed, it’ll help you get a flat tummy.
Duigan is a real believer in these tips, saying that if these are followed properly, anyone can get to have a fit body in about a month.
Got a potbelly? Got cellulite? Getting fit and reducing your body mass index alone are not enough to reduce risk of heart disease. Many people take regular gentle exercise in the hope that they ward of heart disease, however recent research suggests that even a small pot belly / beer belly can increase the risk of developing heart disease.
“Research from the University of Texas found large waist measurements, relative to hip size, were linked to early signs of heart disease. This confirms other research that waist size, rather than overall body weight, is a key indicator of heart disease. The study of 2,744 people suggests that a waist size of 32ins (81cm) for a woman and 37ins (94cm) for a man represents a “significant” raised risk. The report was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.”
Abdominal fat risks:
“And waist-to-hip ratio was more closely linked to these early signs of heart disease than either body mass index (BMI) or waist circumference alone. BMI is widely used to assess relative body weight, and is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in metres. Even a waist circumference of 32in (81.3cm) for a woman, and 37in (94cm) for a man represents a “significant” raised risk.”

Despite the massive popularity of Chá de Bugre in Brazil, little has been done to analyze the plant phytochemicals. Cha de Bugre is known to contain caffeine, potassium, allantoin and allantoic acid. The red fruits or berries of chá de bugre (resembling a coffee bean) contain caffeine. The allantoin and allantoic acid may explain the traditional use of the plant for wound healing. The main plant chemicals include allantoin, allantoic acid, caffeine, potassium. In 1990 however, a Japanese University discovered some new uses for chá de bugre. They showed that Cha de Bugre leaf extract reduced herpes virus penetration by 99% when they pre-treated cells with the extract. In 1994, they showed that the Herpes virus yield was reduced by 33% with as little as 0.25 mcg/ml and also discovered that it had toxic activity against cancer cells (demonstrating a 40% inhibition) utilizing an extract of the branches and leaves. Then in 1997, research with rabbits and guinea pigs validated the traditional use of the plant as a heart tonic when they reported cardiotonic and increased cardiovascular actions using a leaf extract. CURRENT PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF CHA DE BUGRE Cha de Bugre is a great appetite suppressant, but rather than stopping appetite completely (then causing intense hunger when it wears off at the wrong time) it gives one a sense of being full and satiated after eating only a few bites of food. This seems to promote much smaller meals, more often, which is what many practitioners believe is better for sustained weight loss and keeping the metabolism going throughout the day.It works best if taken 30 minutes to one hour prior to a meal. Chá de bugre is not widely available in the U.S. market today, but give it some time . . . these types of natural weight loss aids are just as popular (and profitable) here as they are in South America - especially BECAUSE they work Other sites are now offering a similar product but not as potent as the one we are selling... ours kicks ass... cellulite ass. Here are some tips for exercise success:
If you've been sedentary for a long time, are overweight, have a high risk of coronary heart disease or some other chronic health problem, see your doctor for a medical evaluation before beginning a physical activity program.
Choose activities that are fun, not exhausting. Add variety. Develop a repertoire of several activities that you can enjoy. That way, exercise will never seem boring or routine.
Wear comfortable, properly fitted footwear and comfortable, loose-fitting clothing appropriate for the weather and the activity.
Find a convenient time and place to do activities. Try to make it a habit, but be flexible. If you miss an exercise opportunity, work activity into your day another way.
Use music to keep you entertained.
Surround yourself with supportive people. Decide what kind of support you need. Do you want them to remind you to exercise? Ask about your progress? Participate with you regularly or occasionally? Allow you time to exercise by yourself? Go with you to a special event, such as a 10K walk/run? Be understanding when you get up early to exercise? Spend time with the children while you exercise? Try not to ask you to change your exercise routine? Share your activity time with others. Make a date with a family member, friend or co-worker. Be an active role model for your children.
Don't overdo it. Do low- to moderate-level activities, especially at first. You can slowly increase the duration and intensity of your activities as you become more fit. Over time, work up to exercising on most days of the week for 30-60 minutes.
Keep a record of your activities. Reward yourself at special milestones. Nothing motivates like success!
