STEPHANIE MOORE.... HER DRAMATIC WEIGHT LOSS... HER STORY.
20-year-old Stephanie Moore struggled to her computer to email for help, the six-
and-a-half-stone woman wasn't trying to contact her family or the emergency
services.
Instead, she was desperately searching for advice on how to suppress her appetite
and lose even more weight from her dangerously fragile frame. Prothinspo
members received tons of contacts from Stephanie throughout this period.
In just two years Stephanie, now 23, was not only a dedicated member of pro-ana
sites, but had become a poster girl herself.  Many Prothinspoer’s using her photos
as thispiration.
Stephanie's super skinny frame from her profile page, she was a friend of every pro
Ana, Ed or Mia out there.
Surviving on little more than 50 CALORIES a day, Stephanie in September 2007
confided in her mother, Shelley.  I always feel that if you are on the brink Mom or
Dad are the best to talk to. If you want to stop an ED you will need a strong support
team. A team of people or even a person who loves you no matter what, because
any ED causes most people to be moody, click here to read more about
moodswings and dieting. Okay…. So this is what Stephanie said.
Stephanie says: "One day I broke down in my bedroom, just shaking and crying
about what was happening to me.
"Mum came in and didn't know what to do and we both finally admitted what was
going on. I went to the doctor and I was sent to a psychiatrist and was weighed
every two weeks for six months." I have now developed serious migraines and a
circulatory problem which came on when I was unwell. Putting the weight back on
has not made it go away.
"A lot of girls I know from the sites, have gone into hospital. These sites destroy
lives."
Things improved after the psychiatrist diagnosed Stephanie and she got help from
a specialist using art therapy to help aid her recovery.  And a form of CBT, click
here to read more about that.
She says: "I have now fully recovered but there are some things that will never
leave me.
"I will never eat my cereal with anything bigger than a teaspoon and I will always
check the calorie content of the food I eat.
"I have a nice boyfriend now and things are back on track for me. But all my
experiences will always be there with me.
Stephanie, a part-time model from Catfield, Norfolk, stumbled upon the frightening
internet trend while trying to lose just a few pounds in 2005.
Taking products.
Stephanie, who weighed 9st 7lb, started looking through the internet and found the
product and the plans that seemed to work for her,  her size 14 figure began to
shrink to a skeletal size six.
Stephanie now admits that before her use of the pro-anorexia sites, she was not
body-conscious. She says: "I was one of those girls who thought looking slim
wasn't important.
"I was always comfortable with my weight. I had only ever been on one diet and that
was because my weight had crept up to 11 stone.
"I then lost weight over six weeks by eating healthily. I wasn't cutting out any foods.
"I had noticed my weight creeping up again and when I heard about pro-ana
websites I thought it might be a quick way to lose just a few pounds so I could look
good in a skirt again."
She says: "All of the girls on the sites were glorifying being thin. They made it
sound like a challenge and being skinny was the prize.
"In this world everyone seemed to be very pretty and very skinny. What they didn't
say was how your hair would fall out, your body would be covered with fine, downy
hair and in the long run you could end up with osteoporosis.
"In November 2005, I set up my own profile and through one new online friend
found ten more friends with pro-ana sites.
"It was a gradual process. First, I watched other people, reading their banter on the
comments page."
But four months later Stephanie found herself slipping further into this virtual
reality and in March she posted pictures of herself in a bikini and began trying to
lose weight.
She says: "I added a picture of my naked back and updated it sporadically, noting
my weight loss. I did the same with a picture of myself in a bikini.
"I started losing weight by cutting out meals when I could. While I was working part-
time as a shop assistant, I could cut food out and just eat at home with my mum who
I was living with. But over time this escalated." Stephanie turned to her new online
"friends" for their weight-loss tips and support. She says: "I was looking at these
thinspiration sites every day. I'd rush home from days out so that I
Girls started adding comments to the diary pictures of Stephanie's ever-shrinking
body. Stephanie is now maintaining a normal weight.

Stephanie  Moore is now a spokesperson for recovery of anorexia. She feels great
today and her story is very inspiring.

How to tell if you are anorexic:
•        Are you fat?
•        Was your last period more than three months ago?
•        Does your weight fall below these sort of numbers:
o        metric:
        1.60 metres: 45 kg
        1.70 metres: 51 kg
        1.80 metres: 57 kg
o        English:
        5 foot: 90 lbs
        5 foot 6: 108 lbs
        6 foot: 129 lbs
If you answered “yes” to at least two of these questions then there is a good
chance you are anorexic. See your doctor to be sure.
Some anorexics cut up their food into small pieces and move them about on their
plate so you think they are eating. They lose interest in boys. Some wear too many
layers of clothing because they lack the body fat and ongoing digestion that keeps
most of us warm. Their skin becomes dry and their hair starts to fall out. Even their
hearts get smaller!
Those with bulimia nervosa also try to lose weight by not eating, but then they get
so hungry they pig out. Shame and guilt set in so they make themselves throw up.
Since they never get thin this can go on for years and years. It is dangerous too:
the body is not designed to throw up after every meal. Do it too often and your
heart will run out of the potassium it needs to work.
No one knows what causes anorexia. Most anorexics do not feel good about
themselves unless they are “perfect” – maybe because their parents only loved
them when they were good. Perfect can mean perfect scores at school or in sports,
but it can also mean having a perfect body. In America since the middle 1970s a
perfect body means one that is as thin as possible.

Internet sites don't make someone anorexic or bulimic these desires are not contagious, if you feel you have an eating disorder and have
taken your dieting and exercising too far... seek out help and talk to someone. Love you, Jodee
