so that they can look and feel great and make the most of their time off.
I'm not big on short-term, quick-fix programmes, and like to focus more on the long-term lifestyle aspects of health.
Over the last seven years, I've been studying, researching and testing methods and systems of psychology, nutrition, exercise and
therapy from all around the world including naturopathy, Chinese, and Ayurvedic medicine to see what worked best.
Focusing on finding out exactly what worked and what didn't, I narrowed down wellness to its essence coming up with specific
strategies and techniques that work every time.

Here are 10 tips on how to get a wonderful waist!

1. Work your obliques! Your obliques are the muscles of the sides of your
tummy, ie your waist. You have two sets of obliques each side (internal and
external obliques). The more toned they are the better the shape of your body.

Here is a 5 minute waist workout - do each exercise for a minute:
1. Oblique cross overs right
2. Oblique cross overs left
3. Floor side bends right
4. Floor side bends left
5. Bicycle

2. Cut out the stodge! Too much stodge usually means too many calories and a
bloated tummy. Things such as bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits, but even large
portions of the healthier carbs such as rice, cereals, potatoes and actually too
much fruit, can bloat you out. For the ultimate waist-friendly eating, choose raw
foods such as salads and have with fish, lean organic protein and essential fats
such as nuts, seeds, avocadoes and olive oil and avoid sugar.

3. Kick yourself into shape! Kick boxing is fantastic for getting a great shape
because it uses lots of lateral muscles (the ones on the sides of our body) that
gets some of the best shape changing results. If you can’t get to a kick boxing
class, then try the following move – one of the best waist enhancing-muffin top
busters going!

4. Cut out the fizz. Drinking anything that has fizz in it, means you swallow air.
This air is either stored in your body or has to come out somehow. Some women
choose diet fizzy drinks as a way of managing their weight, after all this air will
make them feel full up, but this mainly creates bloating. In addition, the diet
version of fizzy drinks, contain toxins and chemicals which the body hates. The
body then needs to protect your vital organs so wraps water, fat or self made
cholesterol around it, and this can actually lead to water retention. Still mineral
water is the better choice.

5. Plank it to perfection. Planks are a great way of toning the core and back, but
side planks do this and the waist – the win-win exercise for getting a great
shape around the middle! Do a minute or so each side to strengthen and shape
your middle section. The ultimate side plank waist workout is a side plank with
hip dips – do a normal side plank, but drop the hips down an inch, and then back
up and repeat, again for about a minute each side – ouch, but oooh what
fabulous results you’ll get!

6. Eat slowly, chew properly. Our stomach doesn't have teeth, so when we
swallow food that isn’t chewed properly, it has problems digesting it. This
means food sits around in our guts and goes a bit rotten and this creates
bloating, acidity and gas. Yuk! Eating quickly is linked to this because if you slow
down your eating, you tend to chew better. My top tip is to eat as if you were on
a first date with Brad Pitt. Eat slowly, put your fork down between mouthfuls,
chew properly and don’t eat too much.

7. Twist it! This is another fantastic exercise for toning the middle section of
your body and getting a great shape! Stand with your feet together, and twist on
the spot, rotating at the waist. The women in the '50s didn’t have amazing waists
from nothing!

8. Burn off excess fat. OK, so the tightest, toned, shapeliest muscles will not be
seen if there is excess fat over them, so, a fat burning approach is a must! To
get rid of excess fat you need to eat less or move more. Power walking, jogging,
cycling, swimming, aerobics and kick boxing are great for burning calories and
stripping fat. Combine this with a reduction in excess calories (daily wine, OJ or
latte habits) and you will really notice a difference!

9. Work your obliques even more. These next moves are great at streamlining
your waist! One minute for each remember.
1. Oblique up right
2. Oblique up left
3. V sit with rotation
4. Swim suit shoot V-lift right
5. Swim suit shoot V-lift left

10. Have an Epsom salts bath. Epsom salts are an absolutely fabulous (and
cheap!) way to help get rid of extra water retention. These magnesium salts are
drawn through the body and help neutralise the body’s ph balance as well as
relax the nervous system, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. They are also
brilliant at helping the body get rid of toxins, which are often stored around
women’s middle’s. You can buy in kilo bags and literally place half a kilo in a hot
bath, get in it and stay there for at least 20 minutes!

1. Green Tea
Green tea is full of antioxidants and also gently speeds up
the brain and nervous system which burns more calories.
So ditch the Tetley for a couple of mugs of Green instead
and if you don't like the taste, just add a slice of lemon.

2. Interval training
Interval training involves incorporating short bursts of
anaerobic exercise into your routine to up your heart rate
and get burning more calories, even after you've finished
exercising. A good way of doing this is to go for a 20
minute run and then every three or four minutes sprint for
a minute.

3. Cinnamon
Great for helping your body to metabolise sugar and
balance your blood sugar levels and it also help to keep
sugar cravings at bay.

4. Weight training
Many women make the mistake of skipping the weights in
favour of cardio but your resting metabolic rate is actually
increased by gaining muscle mass. So invest in a pair of
three pound weights and get lifting at least three times a
week to give your metabolism a boost.

5. Don't skip breakfast
Yes it's one way of saving on calories when you want to
lose weight but skipping breakfast will have the
catastrophic effect of slowing down your metabolism as
the body adjusts to cling on to any nutrients and calories.
It also increases the chances of you reaching for a biscuit
or chocolate when you're ravenous at 11.30am or over
eating at lunch time.

6. Regular exercise
Try and get moving every day, preferably in the morning,
for about 30 minutes. Being regularly active will speed up
your metabolism and by exercising in the morning you'll be
burning more calories all day.

7. Increase your fruit and vegetable intake
Fruit and vegetables are complex carbohydrates which
take the body longer to break down therefore using more
energy and burning more calories.

8. Increase your fat intake
No, that doesn't mean rushing out to McDonalds and
feasting on burgers, the key here is to eat the right kind of
fats. Stay clear of saturated fats and stick with
unsaturated which can be found in foods like nuts, seeds,
oily fish and avocados.

9. Hot pepper
Capsaicin - a chemical found in jalapeno and cayenne
peppers - temporarily stimulates your body to release more
stress hormones, which speeds up your metabolism and
causes you to burn more calories so if you can take it
spicy, pile on the peppers!

10. Get plenty of shut-eye
Sleep deprivation increases production of the chemical
cortisol which in turn increases hunger and reduces your
ability to tell when you are full. It also interferes with the
body's ability to metabolise carbohydrates and leads to
more fat storage so try and get a few early nights if you
want to keep the weight off.

Good points
The variety of food on offer. Fine there may not be any baguettes smothered in

I just read that

Dear Jodee, I just wanted to say thank you for telling me to "take the stairs"  I started going up and
down the stairs everyday for at least 20 minutes. This is all the
exercise that I do and I do it during
my afternoon break at work. You were totally correct this as a very easy and convenient way to get
some exercise and maintain my weight loss and keep weight coming off inspite of my very busy
schedule. I thought since I was taking the
Chadebugre and finally got rid of my cellulite and belly fat
that without going to the gym I would never be able to keep it off. Wow, was I wrong you were so
right the steps have made my legs long and leaner and my cardio has totally improved not to
