This is a quick paragraph from the internet a site called Tips on how to be
an anorexic.......Do not take this article to heart it is one of those articles
against ED. Many bulimics find that they are unable to starve themselves,
which is why a program of exercise anorexia often works best. If you can
get to a gym and work out for at least four hours everyday, then you really
can eat whatever you want. Some teens I treat say that they just cant find
the time to work out that much. It can be easily accomplished if you can
work out two hours before school and two hours after. Another benefit to
the exercise anorexic is that this can foster amenorrhea, the abnormal
absence of menstruation. How great is that? Not only can you be skinny,
you can keep your periods from interfering with your life.

I don't agree with this article. The only reason I am linking it to you is
because I link you Prothinspoer's to anything and everything related to ED.
Bulimia is twofold; it's a course of action and an emotional state. It is impossible
to properly diagnose this disorder by yourself. However, sufferers of bulimia and
anorexia share certain traits (or causes). These conditions characteristically
affect girls of middle and upper middle-class families. (
so they say)
The disorders usually first appear between the ages of 10 and 20, although both
conditions can persist well into adulthood. Bulimics and anorexics are normally
good students who obey the rules and are generally cooperative and
complacent.

I do not have a question but rather a personal story to share. I myself have dealt with bulimia for several
years. I want to let your readers know they are not alone! For me, my eating disorder began when I was
approximately 15 years old. I am now 23. I want to let those who are struggling with an eating disorder
know that it is possible to over come bulimia and/or anorexia. I myself have not entirely beaten this
disease but I'm more than half way there. There is an end to all the craziness, trust me, but it takes a lot
of time, work, effort and the will to get better. You have to take each day at a time and you have to keep
focused.

Bulimia nervosa, or simply bulimia, is an eating disorder. People with bulimia
consume large amounts of food in a short time (usually less than 2 hours). These
food-binges often occur in secret and involve high calorie, high carbohydrate foods
that can be eaten quickly, like ice cream, doughnuts, candy, popcorn, and cookies.
After these binge episodes, most bulimics (80-90 per cent) 'purge' their bodies of the
excess calories by vomiting, abuse of laxatives or diuretics. What is bulimia?

bulimia sufferers resort to other methods of eliminating these excess calories, like
extreme exercise or fasting. A few bulimics use a combination of purging and
non-purging methods. Those who resort to extreme fasting-bingeing-vomiting may be
suffering from both anorexia as well as bulimia.

AMY WINEHOUSE UPDATE FROM HUBBY ...
"Prison has saved me. But if Amy goes back on crack again, I will be
lucky if my wife's alive in three months."
Blake also spoke of his upset over pics in the press of Amy looking
dishevelled and painfully thin.
"She is thin, she is bulimic and she looks ill. Bulimia is deadly in itself
and I've tried without success to make her eat properly," he said.
He also revealed that his parents, Georgette and Giles, were desperate
for him to divorce Amy, saying:
"They think she's the Black Widow, who will be the death of me if I don't
end our marriage. But I'd prefer to have a short life with Amy than a long
life without her."
Despite all the anguish over his wife, Blake is ultimately positive about
their future together now that she has entered rehab.

While America is facing the very real problem of childhood obesity, across the pond the British are dealing with another problem.
Apparently half of the country’s six-year-old girls want to be thinner.
When I was six I was more concerned with Barbie and that my weight, when I grow up should be the same as Barbie's so I guess this didn't apply
to me that study that American girls at 6 years old don't think this way, but a recent study conducted at Cambridge University has revealed that the
nation’s young girls are scarily preoccupied with their weight, and actually think they’re overweight.
In the study, the girls were presented with digitally altered photographs of themselves and asked to choose their ideal shape. Half of them chose
the image that was three sizes smaller than their current size, which happened to be the skinniest they could pick. I don't see this to be surprising at
all but everyone else really was shocked that these girls also thought that by being skinnier it would make them more popular.
The Sun tabloid interviewed two of the girls’ mothers who blame the fashion media and its Photoshopping craze.

“[My daughter] Saffron looks through my magazines and says her legs are fat. There is a worrying culture of girls
thinking they’re overweight from a very young age,” says one mother. The other mother told the daily newspaper:
“These girls idolize models and get depressed.” I find it interesting that people are still surprised that girls want
to be thin, and it certainly doesn't seem like a new study to me but this is the most recent study so I am passing it
on.

Jeremy Gillitzer, who appeared on the cover of City Pages to tell his story about his struggle with eating disorders, died Tuesday June
21. 2010.  He was 38.

I first met Jeremy in the fall of 2008, when he wrote me an email asking if I would be interested in telling his story on Prothinspo.  Jeremy spared no
detail with his struggles with Manorexia… He told me of his psychological problems and his weighing just 88 pounds.
I had never got to finish the interview he said that he had been committed by his family.
I visited Jeremy at Methodist Hospital's Eating Disorder Institute in St. Louis, trying to help him pass the time. He was the only male in a ward full of
women all with advanced anorexia or bulimia or some other type of ED. A new study shows that eating disorders are more prevalent among men
than was previously believed, but you wouldn’t know that by this hospitals anorexia ward.
He told me, "I am very disgusted with my appearance, specifically my face ... If I ever make it through this eating disorder alive (which I hope I do
not), I am having a face lift or some other procedure that will make me presentable." We talked about when he thought this disorder took over, he
told me….. By 14, he was stealing laxatives from the local pharmacy and taking round pink pills by the handful.
Jeremy put together several videos warning others about the dangers of bulimia and anorexia and he appeared on Inside Edition, and was even
named one of the Most Extraordinary Stories of '08. Before this he had done acting and modeling, making a brief appearance in Kevin Smith's film
Mallrats.

Jeremy was never able to overcome his inner struggle with his eating disorder. At the time of his death, he weighed 66 pounds. His grieving mom
Diane says Jeremy had shut himself off from his family and starved himself to death. "My last words to him was 'I love you' and I gave him a hug,"
said Gillitzer's mother.
