6/28/08 This sounds more like a court case than a TV show, but "Brittan’s Missing Top Model" will debut next week on the BBC, as the search begins to find the worlds hottest disabled model. In a format similar to "Americas Top Model", 6 girls with a range of disabilities made it on the show, but it was a tough house to get into. Meaning the front door had to be unlocked, since there's no way more than 6 people even tried out for this dumb ass idea. The New York Daily News says... CLICK HERE.

3/20/2010 Vogue editor ALT is interviewed by Amy Chozick of the Wall Street Journal and utters many
delightful, interesting, wonderful things. For instance:
Chozick asks, "Can we expect some drama in the house this season?" And ALT replies, with dignity:
"Yes. No drama between me or any of the judges but there will be drama. I won't create it. I don't tear
down. I prefer to build up."
As a well-respected editor, ALT will bring some legitimacy and new horizons to ANTM. (Wouldn't it blow
your mind if we saw a contestant in Vogue?) He's known Tyra since she was 17; he's doing the show
because "Tyra asked me," and he's "always looking for a model who projects strength, tenacity, and
fortitude, patience, ambition, dedication and passion."
But the best part of the interview? His explanation of "drekitude":
What does "drekitude" mean?
Drekitude is the lowest point in the lowest ebb. It could be your look. It could be your shoes. It could be
that you're standing wrong. Drek is a total, total, total hot mess. I coined the word because of Rachel
Maddow who I've had the honor to have dinner with…I watch her show every evening and she invented
the word ‘quackitude' and I'd just go around the house and say quackitude, quackitude, quackitude, and
from that I coined drekitude. I have to give her credit.

9/16/2010 America's Next Top Model, Model gets thrown off due to be anorexic or showing signs of eating disorder..Everything Anamaria said during last night’s episode
indicated to me that she, at the very least, suffers from body dysmorphia, in that she already weighs less than her body is naturally inclined, but still wants to be “leaner.”
When asked by one of the other girls how much she used to weigh, Anamaria said she used to 130 lbs. but was now down to 110. That’s 20 lbs.! HER Height: 5'10"it’s due to the
calorie-restricted diet. (something such as these extreme diets.)
Later in the episode, Anamaria showed further signs that the way others see her—REALLY thin—is not the way she sees herself. When Jay commented during the photo shoot
that she’s “so vascular” and that she needed to pose in a way that makes her body “look softer,” Anamaria said, “I’ve been trying to hard to get lean, but it’s not working.”
When Jay told her that she absolutely did not need to be any leaner, Anamaria’s face fell. “I don’t care what you say, I know how I feel, I know, in the mirror, what I’m looking
back at. That’s all that matters to me.”
At panel, Anamaria’s photo disturbed the judges, particularly because Tyra said she picked the one that showed the least of Anamaria’s body—that the other photos showed
just how thin Anamaria is and that Tyra doesn’t want to send the wrong message to girls and women watching the show. This is where I started to get a little pissed off.
Anamaria was cast on the show at or around the same weight—was Tyra not concerned then about her weight and how her body image might impact the show’s
impressionable audience? At what point did Tyra and crew suddenly realize that Anamaria was “too thin” for them and for designers who love a thin model, but not that thin?
Regardless of whether Anamaria was ultimately given the boot because her thinness was a genuine concern or just a PR move, I was bothered by how matter-of-factly it was
“resolved.” The editing of the episode indicated that Anamaria’s weight issues were potentially serious, but her dismissal from the competition was mealy-mouthed and
detached. Keeping her in the competition would have been an endorsement of the unhealthiness of her appearance (no matter how she arrived at it, as Tyra did not directly
suggest herself that Anamaria had a health problem), and Tyra washed her hands of the issue by telling Anamaria to eat a piece of bread with butter and sending her packing.
Should there have been an epilogue after the episode discussing the seriousness of body dysmorphia, unhealthy body image, and eating disorders? Like any other show that
discusses the subject?

9/16/2010 The judges deem Terra's "obvious" posing better than Anamaria's obvious ribs, and so Anamaria is the first to go. And here's
Tyra just being Tyra: "You might be the healthiest girl in the world. You might be able to race me down the block and leave me panting
behind you. But it might not hurt to eat some avocado and a little bit of bread with some butter on it." *sounds like TyTy baby is hungry...
lol. I do think that if they were gonna touch on this subject they could have done really good by giving a type of warning. This would send
out the word to girls who actually do have an ED that they CAN'T model if they are TOO THIN. I was turned down for runway way I hit below
11- and I know that it is true they will not let you walk if they see too many bones. So for those of you who do want to model remember to
keep it lean but you have to look healthy, the less bones people can see when you are modeling the better. I way to look thicker and not
so stick like would have been for AnnMarie to CARB UP AND drink up BEFORE A SHOOT. This would have made her body less sucked in
and more fleshy so to speak. A little trick I had to do when I dropped below size 00 and they had just started to BAN skinny minnies like
myself... WATER AND CARBS WILL GIVE THE BODY A THICKER APPEARANCE.. HANG IN THERE ANNMARIE!!

Webstar will help the recovery effort following the Australia's Next Top Model gaffe as publisher ACP opted to split the cover run of this
month's Harper's Bazaar between winner and runner-up.
It follows Tuesday night's on-air mix-up when host Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner during the live TV final on Fox8.
Part of the winner's package was a cover feature in Harper's Bazaar plus a six-page editorial photo shoot.
ACP had designed two covers, with the plan to go into production with only the winner's cover before the plan was derailed by the on-air
blunder, which has received media coverage around the world.
The November print run will now be split 50/50 between winner Amanda Ware and finalist Kelsey Martinovich.
"From the moment Amanda was announced, we were bombarded on our website with requests - more like demands actually - that we
print Kelsey too. We've listened and we are doing just that," said Harper's Bazaar editor Edwina McCann.
"We had agreed that we would allow the public to choose our November cover and now they really can. We're printing both covers so
our readers can buy their favourite, or both," she added.
Harper's Bazaar text pages are printed by PMP, but covers are usually sent out to Webstar or Geon.
Webstar general manager Warwick Hay confirmed that the company's Bluestar division would be printing the covers today.
He confirmed that Harpers was doing "a random two-cover" of the November issue, but said the change hadn't impacted production.
"They do two different covers quite a bit. It's not anything unique - even if the story behind it is unique," said Hay.

10/7/2010 Karolina Kurkova on her Top Model experience, what she thought of the girls' prospects in the modeling world, their eating habits, and what she thinks of
Tyra's show:
On the personal discussion she leads with the girls on Top Model tonight:
"I mean, I haven't seen the episode yet, but the whole filming, I mean, was very casual. I had no heels on. I'm very simple. And I came to their home, and I really came
a very - almost like a friend, like a peer [...] and hang out with them and kind of talk about their experiences, and what they've been through and why they want to be
models. Or if people are laughing at them [...] things they're maybe not so crazy about or confident about. And how to work with it."
"They could ask me anything. I mean, we discussed so many personal things and, you know, girls were crying to me. And like, and that was really special to me that
they could-they felt so comfortable with me, they could open up with me."
On what she thought of the Top Model contestants' modeling prospects:
"There's a lot of different type of girls that can do all kinds of different things from editorial to more commercial work to more run way or more type of, you know,
commercials or movie type of things. [...] I think they still have a lot to learn and they need to get, also, more comfortable with who they are and kind of understand
who they are and who they want to be, most importantly. That, you know, they really need to work - come out of their shells and really own who they are and who they
want to be."
Can a Top Model winner actually make it in the fashion world?
"It has to do a lot with the girl-with their looks, you know, are they the right looks for what's happening, what's the inspiration for the designers and magazines and
editors. And also, you know, do they have personality. [...] It's about a package. It's about being beautiful. Being kind. Being professional. And being, you know, what
kind of people are looking for. And, if there is a girl that comes from America's Next Top Model and has all those things, and has that, like, umpf, and that light. I think
it doesn't matter where she comes from. You know, I mean, everyone's got to work the same way. We've got to work hard. And, maybe she has to work even more
because she come from, maybe, a reality TV show. But you know what? Everything is possible."
On her goal of talking to the models about healthy eating:
"I mean, it's so important to eat and eat well. And you need your fueling and you need the energy. I know, myself, I mean, if I don't eat properly, I cannot just be living
on lettuce and water. You know, and I think that people have this misunderstanding that, to be a successful model, I'm to be a size zero. [...] And I still think it's
important and I feel like our industry has been getting such a bad rep that, you know, models don't take care of themselves. They smoke. They drink. They don't eat.
And, you know, that's not my case. I've never been that way. I've never smoked in my life. I don't really drink. And I'm all about really good eating and, you know,
getting everything, all the nutrients and all the yummy - and, yummy stuff from food."
What eating lessons did she teach the girls?
"I made, like a green fruit smoothie juice for the girls, which, actually, they loved. Which I'm so proud of because, you know, it's hard to win girls, who are used to
eating chips and fried Oreos and pizza all the time. And here I come, and I made them a green juice with fruit blended all together. And they kind of liked it. They
were like, "Oh, this is good." And when I left, I left the blender there-it was like kind of my gift. And then left the blender and fruit there, and they're starting to like
play with it and make it."
On what she thinks of Tyra and the new, high-fashion slant on Top Model:
"I've seen Tyra's show and I like what Tyra does and her really efforts to inspire, and teach, and groom these girls to fulfill their dreams. And I think it's amazing. [...]
So, I think she's doing a really good job. And I think she's really-with this season-getting more and more real fashion people involved. Like Dan Kirstenberger's on it;
Patricia Field. I'm on it. Zac Posen is on it. You know, really a lot of high end fashion people who want to get involved and want to help and teach and share their
little knowing-you know, the knowledge they have to these girls, plus the rest of the world."
