People ask me everyday what was the strongest product that I have taken to lose weight the fastest. I took Prothinspo's Hydroxylim/ Diet Slim...I chose this product because of two studies.... The first studied showed a more rapid and effective weight loss than other diet products. This study set out to determine the efficacy of a calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia alone and in combination with niacin-bound chromium and a standardized Gymnema Sylvestre Extract on weight-loss parameters in human volunteers. I know blah blah, but In a double-blind fashion, 60 moderately obese individuals were randomly assigned to three groups. Group 1 received just calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia. Group 2 received the Garcinia cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate, and Gymnema sylvestre extract. Group 3 received a placebo. All subjects received a 2000 kcal/day diet, participated in supervised walking five times per week, and took their assigned test supplements 3 times daily, 30 to 60 minutes before meals. Test measurements were then performed throughout the study, evaluating changes in bodyweight, body mass index (BMI), appetite, blood lipids, and markers of fat oxidation. After 8 weeks, Group 1 lost an average of 10 pounds, Group 2 lost 12.54 pounds, and the placebo group lost 3.53 pounds. At 8 weeks, both Group 1 and 2 were found to have lost significantly more weight than the placebo group. A reduction in appetite was also demonstrated in both Group 1 and 2. In addition, both Group 1 and 2 showed a significant increase in indicators of fat breakdown. It was concluded that supplementation with the combination of (-)– hydroxycitric acid (HCA-SX), niacin-bound chromium, and Gymnema Sylvestre Extract can help people with weight management. Very Cool Huh? So there is more... The next study was an 8 week study....In this 8-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trial, 30 moderately obese subjects were divided into three groups. Group 1 received just the calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia. Group 2 received Garcinia cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate, and Gymnema sylvestre extract. Group 3 received a placebo. All subjects were placed on a 2000 kcal/day diet; ingested the assigned test supplements 3 times daily, 30 to 60 minutes prior to meals; and participated in supervised walking five times per week. At the end of 8 weeks, Group 1 lost, on average, 12.1 pounds. Group 2 lost, on average, 14.99 pounds. Group 3 lost, on average, 3.06 pounds. At the end of the study period, weight-loss values in both Group 1 and Group 2 were significantly greater than in the placebo group. Moreover, the placebo group showed a slight increase in food consumption, while the HCA groups both showed a significant reduction in appetite compared to placebo. Based on the results from this study, it was concluded that the unique HCA extract used in this trial, either alone or in combination with Gymnema Sylvestre Extract and niacin-bound chromium, is effective in helping control appetite, increase fat oxidation, and promote weight loss. Aftter reading both of the studies and actually using this product I am proud to sell it on my site...

Checklist of things to do to prevent binge eating, or mere overeating, here you are:
1) Get enough sleep. 2) Don't get too stressed (either work out, meditate, or learn how to process your stress in some other way). 3) Eat breakfast. 4) Eat every two hours or so. Eat raw vegetables or high-protein snacks, not candy bars. 5) Stay hydrated (ie, drink 8 ounces of water every hour or so). 6) Eat foods that are good fuel, not stuff that you'll crash from after eating. 7) Eat foods you enjoy eating, so you don't feel deprived. If you have not started already, begin the quest to find healthy foods you love. Or at least like, if you're starting out.
So here’s what it really takes to be an Angel: Lima, 30, has been working out every day with a personal trainer since August. For the last three weeks, she’s been working out twice a day.
“It is really intense, it’s not really the amount of time you spend working out, it’s the intensity: I jump rope, I do boxing, I lift weights, but I get bored doing that. If I am not moving I get bored very easily.”
She sees a nutritionist, who has measured her body’s muscle mass, fat ratio and levels of water retention. He prescribes protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep Lima’s energy levels up during this training period. Lima drinks a gallon of water a day. For nine days before the show, she will drink only protein shakes – “no solids”. The concoctions include powdered egg. Two days before the show, she will abstain from the daily gallon of water, and “just drink normally”. Then, 12 hours before the show, she will stop drinking entirely.
“No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” she says.
“It’s like they’re training for a marathon,” says Sophia Neophitou, the British fashion editor who is chief stylist for this year’s show.
“Adriana works really hard at it. It’s the same as if you were a long-distance runner. They are athletes in this environment – it’s harder to be a Victoria’s Secret model because no one can just chuck an outfit on you, and hide your lumps and bumps.”
The body type they are looking for when casting for the show harks back to the Eighties, says Neophitou, to the golden age of the original supers: Linda, Christy, Cindy, Elle and Naomi.
“It isn’t about being a waif, it was about being empowered and you can achieve that,” Neophitou says. [source]
Now, however, it is reported that she’s simply “misunderstood.” Not that The Telegraph lied on her, but that she was misunderstood:
Adriana is insisting that the details of the “crazy diet” are just a “misunderstanding.” She spoke with E! Canada to set the record straight. She even showed E! Canada her piece of [...] cake [and coffee] prior to the show, saying, “I have my Starbucks coffee right there… it was a misunderstanding.”
Like anyone whose body is her source of income — or who poses in her skivvies for all to see — the model says she’s conscious of her figure. She admits, “You can’t eat everything, of course… I eat healthy and work out a lot.”
The new mom also hopes to set a good example for others, saying, “Those teenagers out there, don’t go starving yourself or only drinking liquids. Don’t do that please!” [source]
But then, maybe not so much, because as the ET Canada quotes Adriana:
“Everybody is talking about my crazy diet,” she told me backstage this morning as she got glammed for tonight’s catwalk.
“I know it’s very intense but … I just have an athlete’s mind and I appreciate doing this thing,” she said. “It’s not that I do crazy diets throughout the year. I just do it for this particular thing. After this show, I become normal again.” [source]
Two-a-days, liquid diets and booty paint. Next time you get sad that you don’t look like a Victoria’s Secret model in your lacey unmentionables every day of your life… just remember: two-a-days, liquid diets and booty paint.
I guess I never actually mean it when I say “presented without comment,” do I?

EAT CLEAN AND START NOW!!!! Every few days, we’re going to add a new “rule” to the mix, as well as preparing ourselves for an upcoming change. Things like “ditching the cereal” might be an easier fix that “no more fast food,” especially if you’re one of those people who eats fast food simply because “you don’t have time for anything else.” I’m sensitive to that, but I’m also mindful of the fact that you, sometimes, have to make changes. Growth doesn’t happen without change.
That being said, here’s the first rule for the boot camp: before you go to drink any juice or soft drink, vow to drink two cups – that’s 16 ounces – of water first. If, after 16oz. of water, you still want the sugary drink, then go for it. But you must always drink the two cups of water, first.
Got it? Who’s in?
Easing into clean eating is first and foremost about reframing the situation – you are not limiting yourself… you are giving yourself more options than you’ve ever had before. You are not depriving yourself, you are using your time to explore other possibilities. You aren’t unhappy about giving up your old favorites… you are nervous about finding new ones, but still willing to try. Willing to try because, well, our health depends on it.
The cornerstone of clean eating is buying natural foods and making use of foods as close to the source as you can possibly get. That means you’re bypassing the foods that have the chemical additives included to “preserve” it. It means you’re not buying canned foods full of the salt “necessary” to help preserve it. It means you’re not buying cans of food that have expiration dates that say “2012″ on them… when its clearly 2010.
Live food – fruits and vegetables – have vitamins and minerals that originate naturally within the food as it grows from the ground. We want to take advantage of that. We want to ingest those naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. The cycle in which we participate calls for us to spread the seed of these fruits and vegetables, and the way those foods thank us for doing our jobs is by nourishing us. They have a direct reason for nourishing us and keeping us alive – without us, their seeds are not spread and they cease to exist, as well. This is why our bodies work best when we give them what is intended directly for them to enjoy.
Now that it’s clear that real food lives and dies, let’s talk about how we think a grocery store would go out of its way to keep real food alive.
Think about the architecture of your grocery store. Where do you find the freezers? Closest to the wall, right? What else do you find along the wall? Food that lives and, subsequently, dies. Dairy. Meats. Leafy greens. Potatoes. Kiwi. Tomatoes (mm… tomatoes.) Produce! Meats! Food.
Since real foods cannot be housed inside a little box with a far-away expiration date, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll find them in the aisleways. The good stuff that you’re looking for will almost always be as close to the wall as it can get. It’s basic common sense – it’s easier to keep the outermost parts of the grocery store colder than the innermost parts; the walls that house the refridgerators in the store are all going to be together, and they’ll be closest to the outsides.
Is this foolproof? Of course not. I’m sure you’ll see this in the fridges:
Excerpted from How To Grocery Shop Like A Clean Eater | A Black Girl's Guide To Weight Loss
Excerpted from Easing Into Eating Clean | A Black Girl's Guide To Weight Loss Excerpted from What Time Is It? Clean Eating Boot Camp Time! | A Black Girl's Guide To Weight Loss
and, well, you might wince a little (it might be in your fridge right now!) but that’s okay. If you’re not careful, you can easily wind up with fake foods full of preservatives in your cart, or items sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. Be alert. This leads me to my second shopping tip: if it has a label, it’s probably not clean.
Think about it – what farmer is going to yank a batch of carrots out of the ground and slap a label on it? It doesn’t happen. It just… doesn’t happen. Real food doesn’t need a bright flashy label to prove its worth to you. Centuries of existence is good enough. The most beneficial foods – the foods best for you and your system – are often the foods with no advocates. They have no labels to tell you just how good they are. Evolution should teach you that.
Now, obviously, there are a few things that’ll slip through the cracks. For instance, extra virgin olive oil. Manufacturers are taking heed to the fact that more of us are using it (probably falling for that “Mediterranean Diet!” mumbo jumbo), and are loading it with stickers and star labels to promote the benefits of the oil. But more often than not, you’re going to find claims like this:
…and it’s not worth it. If you’re eating as close to the source, you’re not going to have to worry about calcium or “whole grains” (?) like that. (Though, if you’re a real stickler on your clean eating, you wouldn’ t be eating as much whole grain as you think, anyhow.)
So if you’re buying a food that has a label, what should you look for? To me, it’s not about what you do see, it’s more about what you don’t want to see. That’s important. You don’t want a ton of ingredients making up what you’re eating… and if there are lots of ingredients, you want the list to look more like a recipe than a science experiment.
For this week of boot camp, we’ll be looking at how to shop, cook and eat clean. Thus far, you should be abstaining from fast food, cooking dinners at home (if you have processed foods, cook them so that they’ re gone without wasting money) and drinking 8 glasses of water each day. This week, your goal is to plan out your food intake for each day before you go on. So tonight, before you go to bed, plan out your food for tomorrow. What will you enjoy as a snack? What will you have for dinner? Are you carrying breakfast with you out the door?
As we will be approaching the final leg of boot camp – grocery shopping – make sure you have enough money for one good grocery shopping trip for your household stored away. You’ll need it.
The reason eating clean is so crucial to having a lean body and good health can be explained if you think of your body on a cellular level. Although we don't recognize it with our five senses, every properly functioning cell works together to collectively perform all the large scale functions of a healthy body. You don't feel outward physical effects from eating one unhealthy meal. But that doesn't mean the unhealthy meal is not affecting some of your cells. And the effects add up if you continue to fuel your cells with poor quality nutrients over long periods of time (like your entire life).
As more and more cells function without the fuel they need you'll notice various clues showing up in how you feel overall, you might experience symptoms or warning signs such as a headache, a cold, or the flu. More serious conditions that are becoming prevalent in America are things like atherosclerosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart attacks. These conditions are obviously very serious and even life threatening, the sad thing is they are common in the health of many Americans....You know what else is common, the good old "American Diet"
In stark contrast to "clean eating" is the "American Diet". Fast food, doughnuts, ho-ho's, greasy hot dogs, white bread with no substance, all of these things have little to no actually nutritional value. There is a substantial body of research indicating that the fast food, deep fried, sugary snack staples we Americans know and love are the cause of the downward trends in our nations health. Is it natural for more than half of an entire country to routinely develop these conditions? I feel the reason these conditions occur is because of prolonged depravation of appropriate nutrients to the cells in our body. The symptoms, both minor and major are signs that your cells aren't able to do their job. Undoubtedly, genetic dispositions and abnormalities can cause disease, but the most common diseases in America today are directly related to obesity that develops from poor lifestyle choices, including poor nutrition (the "American Diet")
Of course, numerous medical studies site diet, exercise, and a healthy body weight as preventative measures for a myriad of degenerative diseases. Scientific studies prove that clean eating will build healthy cells and therefore a healthy body. Plus when you eat right, you will feel better! Pretend your body is an ultra performance sports car, and the food you eat is the gasoline, oil, and all that other important stuff that fuels the car. What type of fuel do you put into a Lamborghini or Bentley....I'm guessing it's not going to be unleaded 86 octane. The car won't perform well unless you fill it with the highest-grade gasoline. Well, your body works the same way and it won't function effectively or look good if you feed it inferior quality foods.
The basics of eating clean are using a few simple rules for most of your meals each day, all day, every day. If you simple follow the rule of consuming a portion of lean protein (cold water fish, white meat poultry, etc.) in combination with complex carbohydrates (yams, whole wheat bread, etc.) at each meal you'll notice a significant change in how you feel and how you look. In addition, adding fresh fruits and vegetables to each meal will leave you feeling full & healthy! Clean snacks include the apples, fruit & nuts, or chopped veggies with hummus (one of my favorites) the fiber in these snacks satiates hunger pangs; plus fruits and veggies are loaded with beneficial vitamins and nutrients.
Meals or snacks should be eaten at regular two or three hour intervals throughout the day if you are interested in really getting lean. If you are really interested in staying trim, eat more high quality foods regularly throughout the day, this will result in increased overall metabolism, fat loss, and retaining your lean muscle.
Eating clean to stay lean does not mean eating less. In fact, you'll probably eat more than you were before. But now, you will be eating lots of healthy, superior foods that rev up your metabolism and fill you with lots of energy. Tips for eating clean include: preparing healthy foods in advance, having extra chicken breasts, tuna salad and chopped vegetables packed into a Tupperware containers for quick access.
If you have the discipline to eat clean even 80% (90% is best) of the time, you will notice your body becoming lean and tone. You can literally transform your body composition by eating clean. Eating regular, high quality meals supports your metabolic rate and your cells, by providing just the right combination of nutrients to empower your body to perform at the highest level. If you want to look your best & feel your best, you must eat clean!

800 Calorie a Day Diet Unprocessed Super Nutrition on 800 Calories a Day With 15 Minutes Prep Time
Yes, it can be done. I built this diet over months of experimentation with what worked for me. The primary goals were
1) keep the calories to a minimum, but eat enough to stay sane and be able to function 2) get as much possible nutrition from food, rather than my daily multivitamin 3) everything had to be easy and fast to prepare - I'm a busy woman and none of the diets that required extensive cooking has ever worked for me.
Initially, I also wanted the diet to cost less than $10 a day, but after really living with it, I decided that if I could actually keep myself to 800 nutrition-packed calories a day, splurging on food quality was OK.
If you want to cut costs, the raspberries for dessert are pretty expensive, as are the organic greens and the Faye yogurt. You could swap the organic greens for conventional greens (though they wont have as much nutrients), and you could swap the raspberries for a pear (but you'll be losing out on a lot of fiber, and Vitamin A). So change it around if you can't afford to spend $20 a day on food, but beyond the price point, this is as jam-packed as 800 little calories can get.
Of course, this is NOT a diet for long-term use. It is not really healthy... there is hardly enough fuel here to keep your organs working if you followed it long term. And if you didn't vary it, it'd probably get pretty boring after a few days. I tend to swap greens for sugar snap peas, or raw broccoli, or even spinach. But given how lean this is, if you went out to dinner and had a serving of salmon, you'd still come out of the day with under 1300 calories. If you must have something warm for dinner (or lunch) there are a couple brands of organic tomato soup that run barely 100 calories a cup.
Finally, do drink lots of water on this diet plan - you're going to be losing weight, and its important to keep your system flushing out all those toxins. And take a multi-vitamin just to round things out nutritionally. Weight loss is the goal here, but the final destination for weight loss is optimal health.

A spin class a day
I specify a spin class because it is intense, sustained exercise. Frankly, if you are out of shape it may take you two to three weeks or more of working out to get strong enough to do a spin class. But they work. Some known sexy people, like Brooke Shields, say they just don't really lose weight no matter what unless they do their spin classes.
Your metabolism will get stoked like you won't believe. Just don't be surprised if you step out of the spin class and want to eat an entire grocery store. Actually, you can attempt to eat the grocery store. Just start out in the vegetable aisle and eat them raw.
Cut all the carbs
Everyone and their mother probably knows of Atkins and South Beach, but they do work. Of the two, you definitely want to go with South Beach, but even sticking to meats and cheeses (go light on the butter and the oils, OK) and fruits and veggies and nothing else will drop pounds fast. At least the first few times you do the diet... my body has figured out the con, and now I don't lose weight on this diet as much as I did before.
Here are three more ways to lose 2-3 pounds a week
TIP 1) Cut out soda and all forms of sugar
TIP 2) Drink a gallon of water a day (at least try... half a gallon is a good start)
TIP 3) Eat an apple before you eat anything
TIP 4) Eat a salad (with no avocados, no bread, no eggs and salad dressing besides vinagrette) for lunch and dinner. Eat steak if you want after the salad, but eat a salad first. The salad should be big enough to cover your entire dinner plate and mound up about 3-4 inches. A big salad.
Get your heart rate up to fat burning level for 90 minutes a day.
If you could do one the those five things a week and sustain it, over the course of five weeks you will be substantially thinner. And healthier.
chart for portion sizes according to hand sizes:
one serving of vegetables enough to cover your palm
one serving of fat one thumb-pad (the last section of your thumb; the part that makes a thumb-print)
one serving of fruit or meat or grains one fist
Now that you know what the real serving sizes are, the next time you go to a restaurant you may be in for a shock. Never noticed that most restaurants give us two to three times the portion sizes, eh? And the fact is, if they did not give us 2-3 times the portion sizes, we would be complaining about how they were giving out stingy portions.
One solution to having three meals on your plate is to ask for a to go container when you order. Over time you will get used to the arched eyebrows that result from doing this, but please keep in mind, as you put half of your dinner into the container, that many of the people giving you those suspicious looks from the other tables are thinking "wow, I wish I had done that. I'm going to do that next time."
