Prana Breathing Technique

-------------------------------------------------------
"Your breathing will change as you ascend (into the Fourth Dimension), with prana breathing
becoming the energy source that the body functions best with. Remember that prana was what
you existed on during your lifetimes in
Lemuria. The only thing you used your breath for was to
oxygenate the system. Your energy pattern was sustained by prana. In the Fourth Dimension,
prana from the Photon Energy will be your main source of life. So practice prana breathing
now, for it will revitalize and replenish your cells, and cleanse your cellular consciousness.
That is one of the many reasons why your life span will increase dramatically."

The Roots of Prana-Breathing
In its earliest focus here on the Earth plane, prana breathing was the essence of survival.
Over the years, one learned how to use the lungs and mouth to breathe, thereby limiting one's
potential to distribute valuable energy to the molecular structure. When used properly, prana
breathing allows one to move the molecular structure into a different level of understanding.

Prana-Breathing Meditation
Imagine a beautiful gold light from the Creator's essence entering through your crown chakra.
As you inhale this light, allow it to move down through your pineal and thymus glands. Let it fill
your whole embodiment. After holding this light for a few seconds, exhale and release it
through your heart chakra. Repeat this process several times, and as you quiet your mind and
relax the body, begin to slow down your breathing. With your mind's eye, travel with this light
and become its companion, see how slow you can move this light down and out of your body.
For as you slow your breathing down, you will experience a feeling of grace, a remembrance of
love, and a healing in God's Light.

The Journey to Love
"Can it be that simple?" you ask. My answer is an emphatic, "Yes." For in the simplicity of
healing in God's Light, there are no reasons or excuses to not move forward in love. You will
begin to see in clarity how you have lived your life surrounded by self-imposed limitations. And
you will have the heart strength to heal and change and embrace the new journey in Truth,
Trust, and Passion.

Remember, we are spirit beings having a human experience, so please join with me in God's
Light as I say my prayers for Mother Earth and all Her inhabitants. As you sit in silence and
experience God's Light during your prana breathing, simultaneously see Mother Earth
surrounded in God's Light. This vision will heal the consciousness of fear, which surrounds
our planet, and impassion the consciousness of love.

Imagine the golden particles of light entering through your crown chakra, then exiting. As you
slow your breathing down, experience the feeling of love and light in being one with the
Creator. You may also want to add the traditional deep breathing exercises of expanding and
contracting the diaphragm as you experience the light.

Remember:
Your mind is as big a player as your body when it comes to weight loss.

If you are having a hard time losing weight or keeping your weight loss permanent,

most likely your unconscious beliefs are winning out. Permanent weight loss won't be

possible until the inner conflicts you have around food and weight are resolved.

~ Understand your weight problem from a body-mind & spiritual perspective.

~ Learn powerful tools* that you can apply on your self to reduce cravings, anxiety, stress, heal
emotions, traumas, body image and more.

~ Adopt new ways of thinking that bring you energy, success and true fulfillment

When you really think of the results of a physical food based diet you quickly see how it effects
our lives on a daily basis. Just think about the time people spend because they choose the
practice of eating physical food.

Just look at the time food takes from our lives. Answer these questions:

* How much time do you spend working to pay for the food you eat?
* How much time do you spend buying this food at the grocery store?
* How much time do you spend preparing it?
* How much time do you spend in a day eating food?
* How much time do you spend cleaning up after your meals?
* How much time do you spend getting rid of this food in the bathroom?
* How much time do you spend exercising to try and counteract the effects of food?
* How much extra time do you spend sleeping because of the stress food puts on your body?
* How much lost productivity do you have in a day because of the tiring effect food has on your
body?

Add the above together and you will quickly see the real cost of a diet based on physical food!

When you're feeling weak...
When you're feeling weak...

1. Pinch your thigh and see how you don't need food, because you should be eating your own
flesh all away from the inside first, before you are deserving of actual legitimate sustenance.
2. Go to the library. You can research dieting or whatever, or you can read the classics, or
some of the aforementioned listerature. Or you can do homework, or write letters, but the
beauty of it is, since no food or drink is allowed, you'll have no choice but to abstain from a
meal.
3. Buy some baby teething gel and rub it on your tongue, to numb your tastebuds.
4. If you're even considering eating, just hold your breath and count to 100. Chances are that
you'll convince youself not to eat whatever it is you're craving in that time.
5. The scent of coffee has been proven to lessen ones appetite.
6. Chew the food but don't swallow it. Spit it in the bin.
7. If you're feeling dangerous, plan out the next few hours so that you're occupied for every
single minute. Write a list of things to do for every 15 minutes. eg. exercise, surf the internet,
email your friends, clean a room, read a book.
8. If you're feeling brave enough to face the kitchen, go there and throw out any potential
binge foods. If you must, pour bleach/disinfectant/dishwashing detergent on the food, and
then throw it away!
9. Pinch your ear! Apply pressure to the front of the ear, one at a time. The front of the ear is
apparently a pressure point, in the area that controls hunger.
10. Let perfume replace chocolate. Every time you have a craving, or pass a bakery, sniff some
Chanel no. 5. Apply it to a tissue and carry it with you. Smell has a powerful effect on appetite.
11. Clean something. Cleaning something dirty can make you lose your appetite. The toilet, the
litter box, under the kitchen sink, scrubbing out the garbage bin, anything grimy or smelly. The
mess, along with the smell of the cleaner, can put you off food for a while.
12. Become an artist. Write anorexic poetry. Anorexics are creative. Collect pictures of skinny
girls. Stick them all in your notebook.

Q: how many times a week should I practice prana power yoga?

A: at least three times a week. Five to six times for total physical, emotional and spiritual
transformation!! The more you practice, the quicker the results - the sooner you will reach your
goals, whatever they may be (i.e. centering yourself, toning, strengthening, achieving more
balance in your life and on your mat, creating flexibility, achieving more focus in your life and
on your mat, losing weight, etc.)

Q: will I lose weight doing prana power yoga?

A: many of our students who practice regularly report rapid loss of weight and inches off of
their bodies (see student comments). And many of these students were very physically active
before they began their power yoga practice.

Q: why is prana power yoga so efficient at helping you lose weight and inches?

A: this practice restores all of the systems of your body to their optimum and natural working
order. Your body will achieve the balance that it was meant to have from birth. It is not
necessary to diet; count calories, fat, or carbs; and/or obsess about food and weight anymore.
If you simply do a regular yoga practice and breathe, your body will naturally and easily re-
sculpt itself so that you are as nature intended you to be. After just a few weeks, you will
notice that your clothes fit differently. People will comment to you that you've lost weight, and
you will be amazed because it was effortless. There are many things going on concurrently for
this to happen. You are not only working 100% of your body (see below) and burning a lot of
calories doing so, but also in about week three of your yoga practice, you will notice that you
just don't think about food very much anymore, and you naturally and easily gravitate toward
foods that are right for your body. A donut or a beer just won't look appealing. And because
your body is naturally finding its natural homeostasis, you will not eat as much as you did
before. Your systems and glands will be on their way to stabilization and balance, and so you
will not need to. You will have a fabulous appetite (and don't be afraid of this - embrace it!!),
but compulsive eating for reasons other than true body hunger will subside.

Q: but what if my weight problem is caused by mental stuff more than physical? Will prana
power yoga

A: absolutely. Weight problems are caused by improper functioning and balance of the systems
of your body. Yoga balances all of these systems. Your brain is one of these systems, just as
your pancreas, spleen, and liver are. And when your body gets to the weight that is right for
you, that weight will be maintained effortlessly.

Q: does yoga give my body as much of a workout as if I go to the gym?

A: no. yoga gives your body much more of a "workout" than if you go to the gym. According to
yoga teacher Bikram Choudhury, yoga works/exercises 100% of your body, as opposed to say,
running which works about 10% of your body, tennis-about 15%, swimming-about 15%, or ballet-
about 30%. And you don't need expensive equipment or a gym membership or years of training.
You don't need to be flexible, graceful, athletic, or have "talent." All you need is yourself, a
yoga mat, a clear intention, and your breath. That's all.

Q: will I strengthen my muscles with prana power yoga?

A: oh yes, you will. More than you can imagine. You will become so strong and lean and
flexible. And it will just happen, while your attention is on how calm and centered and focused
you have become. But prana power yoga works and cleanses every part of your body - not just
your muscles. You will exercise just about every organ, nerve, tendon, ligament and muscle,
fill your body with fresh, oxygen-rich blood, and cleanse out your system. And because of this,
after a prana power yoga practice, you will experience a beautiful energy and lightness, and
clarity of mind.

Q: do I need to be flexible and able to bend myself into a pretzel to do prana power yoga?

A: no. this has nothing to do with prana power yoga. This is all external–the whole pretzel
bending thing. This is one of the many myths of yoga that need to be dispelled. All that matters
is that you show up to your mat as often as you can (3x/week minimum is recommended - see
above), breathe, and set a clear intention (i.e. why am I on my mat? What do I want from this
practice?). Be as focused as you can about your intention - and you will achieve it.
Visualization is quite helpful as well. Whatever you picture you will get - not just on your yoga
mat!!

Q: is there a competitive atmosphere at prana power yoga?

A: absolutely not. competition is the antithesis of yoga. all that matters is that you are doing the
best you can in this moment-practicing to your full potential-and resting when you need to. it is
important to listen to your intuition, to your body-not your ego. and this sets a template for
your life: keep your eyes on your own mat (it doesn't matter what your neighbor is doing),
listen to your inner wisdom-not your ego, and breathe. it's that simple. then watch your life
transform in beautiful ways you never thought possible.

Q: what are electrolytes and why are they so important?

A: electrolytes are the following nutrients: sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium,
bicarbonate, phosphate, and sulfate. Electrolytes are important because they are what your
cells (especially nerve, heart, muscle) use to maintain voltages across their cell membranes
and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and
to other cells. Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant
despite changes in your body. For example, when you practice yoga in a hot room, you lose
electrolytes in your sweat, particularly sodium and potassium. You can also dilute electrolytes
by consuming large quantities of water - even if you have not worked out. These electrolytes
must be replaced to keep the electrolyte concentrations of your body fluids constant.
Electrolytes can be found in sports drinks like power aid, gatorade and smart water, as well as
in emergen-C packets (sold at trader joe's, bread and circus, and at our studio). Not replacing
lost electrolytes is very serious, and can be fatal. So be preventative: drink a lot of water - with
electrolytes--all day long. And know your body: nausea and dizziness are symptoms of
electrolyte imbalance.
