Fat cells and how they work... do you know??
­Fat, or adipose tissue, is found in several places in your body. Generally, fat is found underneath
your skin (subcutaneous fat). There's also some on top of each of your kidneys. In addition to fat
tissue, some fat is stored in the liver, and an even smaller amount in muscle.

Where fat is concentrated in your body depends upon whet her you are a man or woman:

An adult man tends to carry body fat in his chest, abdomen and buttocks, producing an "apple"
shape.

An adult woman tends to carry fat in her breasts, hips, waist and buttocks, creating a
"pear" shape.

The difference in fat location comes from the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone. Fat cells
are formed in the developing fetus during the third trimester of pregnancy, and later at the onset
of puberty, when the sex hormones "kick in." It is during puberty that the differences in fat
distribution between men and women begin to take form. One amazing fact is that fat cells
generally do not generate after puberty -- as your body stores more fat, the number of fat cells
remains the same.
Each fat cell simply gets bigger! (There are two exceptions: the body
might produce more fat cells if an adult gains a significant amount of weight or has liposuction
performed, remember if you have lipo the fat will come back somewhere else)


The human body contains two types of fat tissue:
White fat is important in energy
metabolism, heat insulation and mechanical cushioning.
Brown fat is found mostly in newborn babies, between the shoulders, and is important for
thermogenesis (making heat). Since adult humans have little to no brown fat, we'll concentrate on
Fat tissue is made up of fat cells, which are a unique type of cell. You can think of a fat cell as a
tiny plastic bag that holds a drop of fat. White fat cells are large cells that have very little
cytoplasm, only 15 percent cell volume, a small nucleus and one large fat droplet that makes up 85
percent of cell volume.

When you are not eating, your body is not absorbing food. If your body is not absorbing food,
there is little insulin in the blood. However, your body is always using energy; and if you're not
absorbing food, this energy must come from internal stores of complex carbohydrates, fats and
proteins. Under these conditions, various organs in your body secrete hormones:
pancreas - glucagon
pituitary gland - growth hormone
pituitary gland - ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone)
adrenal gland - epinephrine (adrenaline)
thyroid gland - thyroid hormone
These hormones act on cells of the liver, muscle and fat tissue, and have the opposite effects of
insulin.
When you are not eating, or you are exercising, your body must draw on its internal energy stores.
Your body's prime source of energy is glucose. In fact, some cells in your body, such as brain
cells, can get energy only from glucose.

The first line of defense in maintaining energy is to break down carbohydrates, or glycogen, into
simple glucose molecules -- this process is called glycogenolysis. Next, your body breaks down
fats into glycerol and fatty acids in the process of lipolysis. The fatty acids can then be broken
down directly to get energy, or can be used to make glucose through a multi-step process called
gluconeogenesis. In gluconeogenesis, amino acids can also be used to make glucose.

THE LONG,SHORT AND MEDIUM FASTS:  Everyone should do short term fasts unless the doctor tells

general Long term fasts should be conducted for no longer than 28-35 days. Most long  term fasts

and kidneys. Some fasters do a 3 day no drink or food fast this is helpful to relieve the body of
severe pollutants within the body but is very difficult to do healthily.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND WEIGHT LOSS:  Basically to lose weight the body has to burn more calories
than it consumes. If you take in more energy (calories) You know calories are energy right? The
calories you take in is stored as fat.  FAT IS FAT AND MUSCLE IS MUSCLE ONE DOES NOT TURN INTO
THE OTHER!  First take a look at your BMI for a male :66plus 13.7 multiplied bodyweight in kg. Plus 5
times height in cm minus 6.8 multiplied by age years.  For a female :65 plus 9.6 times weight in kg
plus 1.7 multiplied by height in cm minus 4.7 multiplied age in years.

Okay now that you know your BMI you can determine the correct calorie intake for you a day. At this
stage you can burn more calories by
exercise and the more exercise you do the more weight you
will lose and the more muscle you will gain. Muscles weigh more than fat and so sometimes the
scale might say more and the measuring tape will say LESS. You should measure yourself and
weigh yourself to keep an accurate diary of your weight and measurements for better results in any
diet and exercise program!

^You can also buy a heart monitor to see if you are at your target heart rate for the 20 minutes
needed to burn calories and considered cardiovascular exercise. 3656 Calories equal one pound....
Most people round this number down to 3500 because it is easier to figure out formulas so lets do
it this way....
3500 calories = 1 pound
1 kilogram =2.2 pounds
770calories =1 kilogram   so to lose 1 kilogram in a weeks time you must burn 7700 excess calories
during the week(7days) or 3500 if we are working in those numbers... Get it? As far as we know
today these formulas are scientifically proven to be true. But, the human body is extremely
unpredictable everyone's body is different and burns calories and uses calories differently.

Modified Juice Fasting  
You may consider modifying the fast by including quarter slices of avocado or banana to slow the
cleansing process.  Modified juice fasting is good for those with health restrictions such as diabetes
or hypoglycaemia.  Bananas and avocados are slow to digest and maintain a stable blood sugar level.  
Their high calorie content slows the intensity of the fast and, because they are easy to digest, the
body still devotes energy to cleansing.Juice fasting can include fresh juice, herbal teas, sweetened
with honey or Sucanat, vegetable broth, Barley Green, wheatgrass juice, and supplements helpful to
your specific condition.  You can even have home made frozen juice popsicles.
If using the enema kit, I recommend it once on the first day and once per day for the first week.  
Following this once every two or three days is sufficient.  The enema kit should be used in a cleansing
crisis or for a cleansing reaction.  If you choose not to use the  enema kit, two teaspoons of powdered
phylum husk per day will help move the toxins out of the colon.  Prune juice or senna tea also may be
beneficial.  How much juice can I drink while juice fasting?  
Drink to your heart’s content! Fresh, strained juices will not encourage hunger or pull you out of the
fasting state.  Other days, like on weekends, I may naturally slip into water fasting, forcing a
slowdown.    
There are times the body will desire a greater intake of juice.  Increased physical activity or entering
into detoxification state can trigger increased juice consumption.  I have found I drink more juice at
the beginning of my fast, and as the fast progresses, my need for juice diminishes.  This is not so with
everyone.  
Try to stay away from dead, bottled juices, for some unknown reason they can cause hunger and are
far less sustaining.  Remember V8 is not juice but a blended food, containing tomato paste and tons of
salt.  If you treat yourself to this easy food you will experience hunger afterward indicating an
awakened digestion, the last thing you want when fasting.    
Be careful not to drink too much acidic juice in the morning.  Melon or vegetable juices are best if
drinking large amounts.  Acidic juice early in the morning may cause stomach cramps for some.  
If you have decided to water fast I find it a real challenge to drink the daily 8-10 glasses
recommended.  It’s the experience of many to lose their thirst altogether.  Nonetheless, force yourself
to drink as much water as you can.  Water will help clean the body of toxins through the kidneys.  In
our toxic environment, maintaining a fresh supply of water going into the system will force the flushing
out of toxins instead of a build-up, causing discomfort...
