The Queen of the Starvation Scene!!
The 4th of July means parties everywhere. And where there's a party, there's food. Right?
Barbeque ribs; grilled steaks burgers and chicken; endless veggies; homemade
casseroles; granny smith apple pies; double-chocolate pies; cookies.

This year, don't let your 4th of July party ruin your diet. You can stay on your diet and not
mess up simply by following some tried and true methods by other dieters.

Here are those tips to help you to stay on track.

Diet Tip #1: Drink plenty of water. Celebrations often call for high-caloric drinks, especially if
you are partying outdoors. The summer heat makes everyone thirsty, so it's just easy to
grab an icy soda to go. Instead, opt for a bottle of cold water.

Diet Tip #2: Don't munch. July 4th celebrations often include a huge barbeque with all the
trimmings and sides. Resist the temptation to grab a bite to nibble on every time you pass
the food table. These little nibbles here and there add up to high calories and fat intake.
Save your appetite for the main meal instead.

Diet Tip #3: Beware of the dessert bar. Picnics and outdoors July 4th parties usually consist
of lots of goodies for the sweet tooth. Be very careful! Naturally, you'll want samplings from
more than one or two. But remind yourself before you cut a third slice of pie or scoop a dip
of banana pudding that all these little samplings add up to a huge chunk of calories. Take a
portion of one dessert and enjoy every bite of it. Then stop there.

Diet Tip #4: Bring your own dessert. It seems that the tasty desserts at a 4th of July party are
often what get everyone in trouble. If a good dessert is your Achilles heel, then make and
bring your own diet-friendly dessert. For that matter, bring your own main dish as well, if
you fear of failure there, too.

Diet Tip #5: Be aware. One of the biggest problems at parties is not all the food that's there.
Rather, it's the fact that you don't stay conscious and aware of what you're eating or how
much of it you're consuming. Pay attention. Don't grab a plate of appetizers just because
everyone else is standing around munching and chatting. Stand away from the food table.
Get involved in some of the outdoor activities. Stay aware of what you're doing and you'll be
less likely to over eat.
